The Senators have found their new bench boss.

On Sunday afternoon Senators general manager Pierre Dorion officially announced Guy Boucher as the 12th head coach in Senators history. Guy Boucher spent parts of the last three seasons as the head coach of SC Bern of the National League A in Switzerland, posting a 44-29-5 record. he spent two-plus seasons as the head coach of the National Hockey League’s Tampa Bay Lightning, posting a 97-78-20 record in 195 games. Boucher led the Lightning to the Eastern Conference Final in 2010-11. Boucher has a very experienced coaching resume, he led his former team, the QMJHLS Drummondville Voltigeurs to a memorial cup berth in the 2008-09 season. He has also coached internationally for Team Canada, winning gold as an assistant coach with the 2009 IIHF Canadian championship team, as well as coaching in the 2014 and 2015 Spengler cup for Canada, winning gold in 2015. He was also the assistant coach for the Canadian national U-18 team, winning gold in 2008. The Senators were expected to make a decision on their vacant head coaching position immediately after losing out on the Bruce Boudreau sweep stakes as he signed with the Minnesota Wild. Guy Boucher has plenty of experience coaching internationally and has some experience coaching in the NHL, something the Senators were looking for, Boucher now has the task to get his coaching staff together, Expect the news for the new staff to be announced in the coming weeks. As well I believe Daniel Alfredsson may be an assistant coach next year, more news to come. Happy Mother's day from SENS TALK Productions!
