With uncertainty surrounding Andrew Hammond and whether Craig Anderson will take a personal leave soon the Sens needed to get something done. and they did just that. The Ottawa Senators acquired Mike Condon from the Pittsburgh Penguins for a 2017 fifth round pick. It makes complete sense that the Sens traded for Condon, he has a low salary, lots of NHL experience, and is young for goalie standards. A solid move. He played in 55 games with the Canadiens last season, which includes 51 starts, he earned a record of 21-25-6 with a .903 save percentage and a 2.71 goals-against average. The Sens will now ride with three goalies (Anderson, Condon, and Driedger) Hammond may be out long term. The injured Andrew Hammond's backup role is now in jeopardy, a possible trade may loom ahead. But without a doubt Craig Anderson is the Sens #1 goalie.
The Sens sent down Matt O'Connor to Binghamton of the AHL after the trade was released.
